Mixx Receptacle

Prompt:
create a receptacle that works into the pre-existing Mixx collection. The receptacle should reflect certain design features of the existing design language.
Design Features:

the original concept sketch is trying to mimic the slightly angled lines of the legs on all other pieces in the mixx line currently. as i work through some 3d test models, i begin to realize that i am focusing on the wrong pieces of the design and make the legs more vertical and put the door on the side opening from the left, but maintain the bonnet top to use the same language as the tables and chairs. the boards are chamfered along their edges where the wood interacts with the metal, and the distance between the legs are spanned by a flat face similar to all other pieces.
Two concepts were brought to the National ASLA show and shown to Landscape Architects from all over the country and we received the feedback that they liked the option of a bonnet top or open top receptacle. Between myself and the other designer, we worked to merge the two concepts and started working towards the final product.
prototyping
We did some basic 3-D printed models to validate scale and proportions for the size of receptacle we wanted to create. From there, we worked through full-sized metal prototypes for photography and validating construction through the manufacturing facility.
